Is it safe to ship fish through the mail?

Generally speaking, yes! Shipping fish is very safe, and happens every day. Shipping is how fish get to all fish stores, how they enter the country, and of course how they get directly to your door! Of course there are considerations like the method used, weather, and how the box is handled in transit, but we do everything possible with safe packaging to ensure safe arrival. 

 

How old do I have to be to order live fish?

You must be 18 years or older to purchase a fish, or have parent or guardian permission

 

When will my fish ship?

We ship fish on Monday of each week. The banner at the top of the website will indicate the date your fish will ship. We cannot hold fish past the ship date listed at the top of the site. If you order, be prepared for your fish to ship on that posted day.

We reserve the right to hold your fish for shipping if we believe the weather is unsafe to ship in. 

How to I track my order?

When your fish is shipped you will be emailed a tracking number, this will be sent to the email you input when your order is placed. Please keep a very close eye on your tracking updates. We highly suggest setting up text or email notifications for your order, this can be done on the UPS or USPS tracking page.  This will allow you to get any updates about the delivery and get notified when it arrives. This will not only help get your fish inside sooner, but help you stay in the time window of the DOA policy.

Do not rely on the Shopify email updates, as they can be hours behind the actual tracking updates.

 

Where do you ship to?

We only ship to the US, excluding Hawaii, Alaska and US territories. We cannot ship fish internationally.

I'm local, can I come pick up my fish?

We do offer local pickups! There is a free local pickup option available at checkout if you would prefer to pickup your fish.

We are in the process of building our new local store in Corvallis OR, so we aren't quite ready for in-person shopping. But you are still welcome to pickup any online orders while we are getting the store ready.

Local pickups need to be picked up within 1 week of your order being placed

 

Do I need to quarantine my fish/plants?

All of our fish have been through a brief quarantine period as well as preventative medications such as de-worming before they are shipped. We still recommend you quarantine your fish upon receiving them as well, especially if they are being added to an aquarium with other fish. 

We also recommend you dip (bleach dip/salt dip etc.) your plants or quarantine them before adding to your tank as a preventive measure.

 

Do you offer cancellations or returns?

Buying any live animal is a commitment, we do not offer returns on any live fish (or plants).  All cancellations are subject to a 10% restocking fee. Orders that have shipped cannot be canceled.  Returns on unused dry goods are subject to a 10% restocking fee along with the cost of return shipping.
